Something from Japan
Hi All
I have recently visited Tokyo, Japan and I have taken some pictures of some interesting things in the city. I thought I'll share with you guys here.
First one is a banner promoting recycling. It grabbed my attention because it doesn't use the traditional recycled symbol. It has two stick figures recycling paper with each other. It gives me a sense of fun. I think it works very well as it has projected recycling is fun and thus encourages people to recycle.
The myth on vending machine in Japan is true. Every street you'll find rows and rows of vending machine. In Kyoto, we came across a vending machine that has a music player installed. You can hear the music it plays from far away. I don't know what strategy it was. These vending machines here have picture of Tommy Lee Jones on them. I couldn't figure out what his face is doing on some drinks vending machines. The brand "Boss" is not Hugo Boss, it's a brand of canned coffee. The coffee aren't too bad for A$1.20.
This is a stall just outside of a small food shop. I don't know what it sells. These type of "mascot" characters can be seen everywhere. Japanese (especially girls) love cute characters like this. It's a useful way to sell "things", anything at all.

Welcome to Dezain Mix.
Hi Everyone
Thank you for coming to post here in the Dezain Mix. (By the way, this name can change if we can come up with a better one. I'm open to suggestion.) This is a great place for discussions on design and sharing tips and tricks. This is also the place for the graduates of Graphic Design students from UCAN to catch up and keep it touch on each others' development. If you need feedback on your projects, post 'em here. If you want to share awesome photographs/tricks/tutorials/articles with fellow designers, post 'em here.
One rule: your comments/posts should not attack fellow bloggers personally. I will be moderating comments. If I think it's too rude (eg. swearing at someone), I will delete the comment without notice. Of course, the words "fucking awesome" are allowed in here! ;)
If you want to become a blogger in this place, please sign up. If you have a Gmail/Google login already, you can use it to login.
Happy blogging!
Leanne
